The IAPM Radiation Protection SIG held a by now annual Medical Physics themed workshop at the 4th Robert Boyle Summer School in the beautiful Lismore, Co Waterford  on the 25thJune 2015. Once again a large attendance of over 30 people filled the side of the room nearest the door. The title of this year’s workshop (which was again smoothly organised by Paddy Gilligan) was ‘Science and Communication’.

After a slightly delayed kick off, Tom Heary provided both a useful overview of dose tracking software and an early test of session chair John Upton's time keeping skills. Susan Maguire then raised many important issues regarding prenancy policies in radiology while discussing results of a brief survey. David Fenton provided an interesting account of radon gas monitoring and awareness campaigns, including a clip from The Simpsons. A brief intermisson then allowed imbibing of the copious amounts of tea and coffee supplied by the hosts to wash down the biscuits. Afterwards Geraldine O'Reilly and Fintan Bradley aired their views on open disclosure and Ruairi O'Donnell explained the process of introducing new PET products. John Upton then briefly recapped on all talks and allowed any further questions that hadn't been asked directly after each talk.
