The IAPM provides support to members to contribute toward attendance at conferences or meetings. The IAPM Travel Bursary is available to students, trainees and/or basic grade Medical Physicists wishing to attend a conference or course that will enhance their learning and/or further research in their field of work.

Eligibility

For applications to be considered by the IAPM council for the IAPM Travel Bursary, applicants must be:

  • An IAPM Member
  • A Medical Physics student, trainee or Medical Physicist with less than 4 years’ experience
  • Not be receiving funding from elsewhere.
  • Accepted on course or have had their abstract accepted

Application Procedure

  • Applicants must fulfil the above eligibility criteria
  • There will be two application rounds: one in Feb and the other in August.
  • Applicants must submit applications to the IAPM President a minimum of 2 months in advance of their course/ conference using the IAPM Travel Bursary application form
  • Applications must be accompanied by a course/abstract acceptance letter
  • Applicants must provide the following details:
    • Title of Course/Conference
    • Location
    • Dates
  • Where abstracts have been accepted for poster/oral presentation, Title of abstract and Programme indicating time and session of presentation must be submitted with application
  • Applications must detail how the course/conference is relevant to the applicant’s area of work/research
  • Applications must be supported by a letter from the applicant’s supervisor/ manager

Terms and Conditions

  • The IAPM will award no more than €500 per application accepted. 
  • Where abstracts have been accepted for poster/oral presentation, receipt of an IAPM Travel Bursary will be acknowledged on the poster or talk using the IAPM logo and the words: “Funding has been gratefully received from the Irish Association of Physicists in Medicine’s Travel Bursary Scheme”.
  • On return from the course/conference, the awardee will write a feedback report for the IAPM newsletter on the course/conference attended
  • Where appropriate, the awardee may be asked to present feedback on the course attended or the work they presented at the conference attended at an IAPM Annual Scientific Meeting or appropriate Special Interest Group Meeting
